How Your Donation Helps
Your donation to Orange County United Way’s Community
Fund provides grants to local
non-profit organizations whose programs meet at least one of the priority needs of the county. In 2008, Orange County United Way conducted a Community Needs Assessment that allowed us to better understand the immediate needs of our community. Orange County United Way’s priority needs are: Helping Children and Youth Succeed, Promoting Financial Stability, and Promoting Health and Well-being.
All official 501c3 not-for-profit organizations are eligible to apply for funding. All grant applications are carefully reviewed by a panel of trained volunteers from the community.

Any donations to United Way that are designated to another not-for-profit organization are sent to those organizations minus a 10% processing fee. This fee is required to cover Orange County United Way’s processing cost and provide an allowance for uncollectible pledges. Any donations that are designated to one of United Way’s Targeted Care Areas or Targeted Funds are directed according to the donors’ wishes.
