COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS

You don't have to look very far to find someone who has been helped by a funded program. Volunteers direct your donation into health and human service programs right here in the communities where we live and work.

When you give to United Way's Community Fund, you are making a difference in the lives of one out of every three people in Orange County. Your investment helps people in literacy programs find jobs, ensures children in child care programs are emotionally and physically ready to learn when they begin school, and enables older people to remain independent through senior programs. Look around you right now. Chances are, someone near you has been touched by a United Way funded program at some time in their life.

Simply stated, United Way is all about helping people right here in Orange County. You are making a positive impact on people's lives when you make a contribution through your United Way, and you're helping find community solutions to problems that affect us all.

COST EFFECTIVENESS

To ensure your donation is well spent, a 30-member volunteer board of directors oversees each United Way and is committed to getting your dollars directly to services and keeping our administrative costs low - 20¢ of each $1 gift for 2008/2009, which falls significantly below the standard for non-profits throughout the state. In addition, United Way is audited each year by a certified public accounting firm. These results are always available at our office.
