Montgomery – Spring has sprung, but the winter bills haven’t melted away. Many Orange County residents are feeling the sting of a tough economy while trying to keep up with the hefty costs of heating their homes. Orange County United Way has extended their deadline and is currently accepting applications from individuals who need assistance paying for their home heating expenses, but do not qualify for the HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program).
Until May 15, 2011, Orange County residents can apply for a heating benefit, which will be paid, upon approval, directly to the resident’s fuel provider. The fuel fund is available for all types of heating fuel. Anyone interested can visit United Way’s website at www.uwoc.org to learn if they qualify for HEAP or the Orange County Fuel Fund. Applications can be completed online or individuals may call Energy Program Manager Pat Fayo at the United Way office at (845) 457-4774 ext. 3112 to receive an application by mail.
“The Orange County Fuel Fund is another important resource for residents who may be struggling to meet the rising fuel costs,” said Judy Eurich, President of Orange County United Way. “We are pleased to partner with Orange County Government and several non-profits in Orange County to offer solutions to help our friends and neighbors”.
